WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BRAKE FLUID

Brake fluid, as the name suggests, is the fluid in our hydraulic brake system. It plays a vital role in the car's braking system. Although it rarely complains (trouble codes), as drivers, we must not ignore it. it.

Your car's braking system is the only thing between you and what you're approaching. We think all car owners should understand what brake fluid is, how it works, why it's important and what to do when it needs to be replaced.

WHAT IS BRAKE FLUID?

Brake fluid is a liquid medium that transmits braking pressure in a hydraulic braking system. It is an indispensable part of the braking system when used in vehicles using a hydraulic braking system. A force transmission medium, because the liquid cannot be compressed, the pressure output from the master cylinder will be directly transmitted to the wheel cylinder through the brake fluid.

WHEN DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY BRAKE FLUID?

Your owner's manual will tell you how often you need to flush and change your brake fluid. Generally, it is recommended to clean the brake fluid every 30,000 miles or two years.

Ultimately, how often you need to change your brake fluid depends on your driving habits and braking pattern.

HOW DO I TELL IF MY BRAKE FLUID NEEDS TO BE CHANGED?

Be on the lookout for these signs you need to have your brake fluid replaced:

HOW DO I CHECK MY BRAKE FLUID?

Checking brake fluid is easy and can be done almost anywhere.

Find your car's brake master cylinder. This is the brake fluid reservoir, usually a simple plastic container on the driver's side of the vehicle, resting against the firewall.

Check the fluid level by checking the side of the tank and noting the level compared to the fill line. If you have an older vehicle, you will need to remove the metal cover, taking extra care not to let any kind of debris fall in. Once opened, note the line marked inside the tank.

If the fluid level is low, you can add brake fluid to the entire line to provide some temporary relief and save your system from major damage.

Replace the lid or top and close the hood.

It's important to note that any type of drip in your vehicle's brake fluid is usually a sign that your brake system needs maintenance, or that there may be a leak in your lines. Either way, it's important to check your car and brakes as soon as possible.

Go to your local auto store for brake fluid service

If you're looking for the easiest way to change your car's brake fluid, take your vehicle to your local auto repair shop. Not only is this much more convenient than doing it yourself, but it also guarantees that your service will be done correctly.
